Electric Vehicles we are looking forward to..
The Automobile industry is preparing itself for a huge leap towards Electric Vehicles. All set to revive the industry which has seen the numbers go down in the past few years, EVs are attracting a lot of attention and interest around the world. Today let’s take a quick look at three EVs announced in 2020 which will surely excite you about the future of Automobile.
Not all vehicles garner the fanfare upon their unveiling as much as a Tesla. After a lot of promoting and promising one of the sickest vehicles, Elon Musk and Tesla gave the world a pickup truck which is, depends on your taste, either the coolest or the dumbest looking vehicle. But a vehicle that does look futuristic and gives all that Sci-Fi vibes and also a beast for sure.
With a unique look, tons of power and an engine which can take this pickup truck 0 to 60mph in under 3 seconds, Cybertruck is deservingly one of the most talked about vehicles this year.
Along with available all-wheel drive, the Cybertruck can tow up to 14,000 pounds and has an estimated driving range of 500-plus miles (500KM approx).
The body will also be covered in an “impenetrable” structural skin of Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel with Armoured Glass for windows.
The interior looks to be as minimalistic as they can come. A simple approach with a lot of angle imbedded in the design of the seats. We'll have to wait and see if that design translates into comfort. The dashboard is like a flat table top with a 17 inch touchscreen attached to it.
Cybertruck is fully expected to hit the markets in 2022.
2. Hummer EV
Surprising everyone this year, GMC decided to give its Hummer lineup a new life. A car which was earlier known for being a military vehicle and having terrible fuel efficiency, is now an Electric Vehicle. No matter where you stand on the looks of the Cybertruck but you cannot deny that Hummer EV looks absolutely stunning.
But not just the looks, GMC made sure that the hummer brand stays strong with this one. A setup with three electric motors that makes 1000 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard and GMC estimates a zero-to-60-mph time of 3.0 seconds.
Hummer will have an 800-volt electrical architecture with 350-kilowatt fast-charging capability which allows it to add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. 350 miles (563Km approx) being the max limit per charge.
The front grill and head lights looks amazing and you also get an option to remove the glass rooftop divided into four sections for Off roading or if you just want to enjoy the weather.
The interior of the car looks modern and it sure is spacious. A 13.4 inch display infotainment screen, and there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel as well behind the steering wheel.
The first model of the Hummer EV will go on sale in Fall of 2021.
3. BMW i3X
Introducing another Electric vehicle into their lineup and with a plan to make a mark in the EV segment, BMW recently launched the i3X. Its first fully electric SUV.
The look resembles the other BMW SUVs but that’s not to say that it doesn’t look different enough and also, it is about what’s underneath that hood. Underneath the X3’s bonnet lies BMW’s fifth-generation ‘eDrive technology’. This comprises the latest motor, battery, electronics and charging tech the company has to offer. BMW quotes 0-62mph in 6.8secs, and a top speed of 112mph, the former number on par with a petrol X3 30i
Highlights include three-zone AC climate control with pre-heating/pre-condition, automatic tailgate operation, sports seats, Vernasca leather upholstery, BMW heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon Surround Sound and ambient lighting.
The distance it will cover in a single charge is on the lower end of this list with 285 miles (460KM approx) being the stop line.
BMW has shared pictures of the interior and of course it looks premium and comfortable as all BMW car does. Check out the interior below.
